The best answer to this question is NO!.
Whilst we do have a Sports Accident Support policy with QBE via Football NSW, State and Federal Laws prohibit this type if support to be viewed as medical insurance. At best, it supplies assistance for any Non-Medicare expense and is quite helpful in some instances.
At the beginning of the season, you should visit or re-visit FNSW web site and check those items for which cover is provided. http://jltsport.com.au/FNSW
When visiting your doctor, DO NOT refer to this as insurance, players have been misunderstood by medical staff and then received large bills from people who thought you were insured.
If you are injured, make sure you take a Form with you when visiting the doctor for the first time. Complete the form and have your club deliver it to the BDSFA Inc Office, we will then send it on and the Insurer will contact you with a case number.
The BDSFA Inc highly recommends all players and officials to take out private medical insurance.
The BDSFA does contribute to a second "Major Trauma" Insurance through NSW Sports Injuries, but once again only gives payout for loss of limb or death. Details of this policy can be found at http://www.sportinginjuries.nsw.gov.au/
