MEMBER PROTECTION

Member protection describes the practices and procedures that are put in place within sport organisations to protect their members. The FFA National Member Protection policy aims to ensure that core values and positive behaviours are maintained and assists in ensuring that every person involved in football is treated with respect and dignity, and is safe and protected from abuse. The Policy also provides the procedures that support the commitment of Football Federation Australia, Football NSW and its affiliated Associations and clubs to eliminating discrimination, harassment, child abuse and other forms of inappropriate behaviour from football.

Member protection is important as it allows members to take part in football, free from harmful behaviours and for club committees, it’s also an effective risk management tool that protects against the harm of participants and members, particularly children and young people.

Football NSW is committed to providing an environment safe for children, which is free from harassment and abuse for everyone, and promotes respectful and positive behaviour and values.

MEMBER PROTECTION INFORMATION OFFICERS

Members should approach their club Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) as the first point of call for persons with member protection or child protection enquiries or complaints. MPIO’s and members can call upon the BDSFA MPIO at any time for advice. The BDSFA Member Protection Information Officer is Suzanne Sim who can be contacted during office hours or emailed at mpio@bdsfa.com.

MPIOs provide information to participants about the options available to them. MPIOs can also provide information to clubs about member protection and related issues and policies. MPIO’s are impartial and generally do not mediate or investigate complaints.
