The BDSFA and by association Blacktown Spartans FC are excited to announce Marc De Paoli as our
inaugural Multimedia Services Officer & Digital Journalist.
Marc began working for both organisations in the 2021 season as our BDSFA Deploy Premier League
Match of the Round Commentator, the Cameraman and Editor of MiniRoos Moments as well as the
Spartans FC Women’s Ground Announcer. The 20-year-old was highly diligent and showed true
commitment to all his duties in the shortened season, showcasing the abilities required to move into a
more involved role for next season.
Marc is a football fanatic, with a desire to work in football media. He found his feet on YouTube, where he
livestreamed himself commentating some of Australia and Europe’s biggest games. In his new position,
Marc will help plan and produce marketing campaigns for both BDSFA and Spartans FC, interview talent
and edit all episodes for the Blacktown Football Hour Podcast, update BDSFA and Spartans FC websites
and create social media posts highlighting player performances at all levels, all while continuing to
commentate, film and announce.
After he familiarised himself with his new desk, we sat down with Marc and asked him about how he
discovered his passion.
“I was bored one day after school and went onto YouTube and searched; “Best soccer player”, stumbled
across a Cristiano Ronaldo goal compilation and have been utterly hooked on the sport ever since. I
found myself associating great footballing moments with equally brilliant commentary, as well as
spending time listening to former players speak about the game. Before long, I would be watching games
and annoying my family by being my own commentator. So, I invested in a microphone.”
At the BDSFA and Spartans FC, our players and coaches are on a journey, and we are here to provide
the foundations for those at every level to enjoy playing the world’s game. Marc see’s his new role as the
first step on his own journey.
“One day, I wish to commentate a World Cup Final, that’s the level I want to reach. I’m so happy that the
Board have seen my potential – yes, but more importantly my passion for football. It is of equal
importance to me that Australia becomes a global football powerhouse, and the way to achieve that is by
assuring that players are brought through in an environment exactly like we have here in Blacktown and
Districts. I am dedicated to bettering local football in order to contribute to getting Australia to a World
Cup Final, and I hope I can be the one to commentate it. I am so thankful that BDSFA and Spartans FC
have given me the platform to go chase my dreams!”
Marc’s first assignment is promoting 2022 BDSFA Registrations. He will be working closely with our 24 wonderful Clubs, the Blacktown City
Soccer Referees Branch and their Members to deliver a campaign focusing on the different segments within our Association including MiniRoos, Youth, Female Football, All Age Competitions, Masters Competitions & Refereeing.
We congratulate Marc on his appointment and welcome him to our football family. You can contact him at media@bdsfa.com, for all your marketing and media proposals
